November 2009

2nd Nov.

Simone has kindly allowed Simone Lahbib Net to become her official site. We thank Simone for allowing us to do this, and we hope to continue and strive to do the best we can for the site. At the moment, we are unable to take messages for Simone, and would urge people to continue using her agents contact address - See here for the details.

Some more updates - First of all, Simone did the voice over for an advert (commercial) in the UK recently. We now have the soundbite of this on the site, as well as a small video file of it. Click here for more >> Also, please note that the facebook profile has been removed, and this is partly because of the number of people who contacted Facebook and complained. We wish to thank everyone who did this, particularly The Simone Lahbib Fan Page on facebook who we are official affiliates with. Please remember, Simone has no intention of having a facebook page.

1st Nov - The Facebook page has now been removed. However, we would ask everyone to please maintain a look out for anyone who poses as a private page using Simone's name and report it to Facebook or ourselves at this web site and we will ensure it is reported.

On a different note, back to additions to the web site. We've now added two signed pictures, done for the Caledonian Kitchen. They have been kindly supplied by the winning bidder for us to put on the site. Click here to view the pictures >>

October 2009

Facebook Information.

Further to the message we posted yesterday (29th October 2009) Simone has asked that we post the following about Facebook accounts using her personal name.

"I have no plans to set up a FB page. So if anyone comes across my name in future, they can be sure its not me.

Simone."

Facebook - Another Fake Account!

Hi Everyone,

Important news from Simone, please read.

We've just had an email from Simone, warning us that once again, someone has a fake Facebook page set up to seem as if it is her personally.

She wishes to make it known this is not her, and she asks that fans do nothing to join this person's page since they are being duped.
She is also aware, and more than happy about a separate Fan Page set up in her name on Facebook, and that they are perfectly legit and acceptable in what they are doing, since they make it clear that they are nothing more than a fan page. Please note the difference.

Simone, in the meantime is trying to get the offending page removed by Facebook, but it could be a long process going by the problems she encountered on the first page she had removed.

If anyone has any information about who might be running the page, please contact us so we can pass the information on to Simone.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this important message.

Footnote to the above message - Due to this being yet another incident whereby someone has put up a false Simone Lahbib page, we have now got a dedicated page on this site about Facebook, the fan page we as a web site recognise, and advice if you wish to set up a fan page. Click here for that page. Alternatively it is now on the menu link under the personal main heading.

Another signed Simone Book is on Ebay for Auction - and while we know many of you have given generously, please can we ask for you to do so again....... For all the details about this - Click here for the Ebay page (It will open in a separate window). Auction ends on November 6th 2009.

The final amounts for the signed Simone Cookbooks have been given, and the final totals were incredible. Kenny Munro said this of the auctions:

"Three signed books and dedicated photos were offered in return for donations to Action Duchenne.
"The top three donations were £320 from Australia, £152 from France and £150 from the UK.
"I've received over 20 offers from UK, France, Australia, Canada, Brazil and many from the USA.
"For boys like Ross, we'll always be eternally grateful."

Amen to that.

Today, added to the site, a typed version of the Interview with Simone in The Scottish Sun and also the Scottish Herald from September - Click here for more

September 2009

Another few signed Simone Books are available via Caledonian Kitchen. From Kenny Munro, Organiser (please note this is direct to Caledonian Kitchen and not through Simone Lahbib Net - We cannot take offers via Email or other means).

"I have now listed another copy of The Caledonian Kitchen on Ebay which was signed by all three of the celebrities at the recent book signing in Glasgow. It comes with a 6"x4" photo of the celebrities. It is a very good photo of Simone, she looked amazing that day.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=270458247686

The second offer is for a signed book and photo. I have three copies of the recipe book which are signed just by Simone. Along with the book will come a 8"x10" photo from the book signing which Simone will actually sign herself and dedicate it to you or whoever you wish. Simone has them in her possession ready for signing. I am inviting offers for these books + photo by way of a donation to the charity. To make an offer please email it to : simone@thecaledoniankitchen.co.uk

The three successful bidders will be informed by 28th September. To see the book and photo on offer please visit the web site - http://www.thecaledoniankitchen.co.uk/simone.html"

Simone News

Simone has once again kindly contacted the site, and here is the news she has given us to pass on:

"We have just finished shooting Raffs 2nd short film called 'Other Side of my Sleep' We will forward you the details of the MySpace page dedicated to the film, which is being set up at the moment. It will probably do the rounds of film festivals before being possibly available for download. TBC (to be confirmed)......

Also Please pass on my sincere thanks to all the fans for their continued support. Most recently those who managed to come see The Golden Hour at The Almieda Theatre in London. Some came from as far field as Leeds! They were all so warm and kind when I met them after.

And finally.... Wire in the Blood 4 was on ITV3 - 11 Aug - Think its going to be a year of reruns because of financial problems across the board.

Simone x"

Web Site given complete overhaul.

We've been working on the site for a little time now, and its finally had a revamp from the old design. We hope you like the new look.

In the process, we've also added a small page about The Golden Hour, the play Simone did at the end of July, to go with the already uploaded pictures from the book signing.
We also found that some pictures were 'missing'! So click here to check it out - where there are now some pictures from the South Africa Bad Girls visit, plus one or two others taken more recently as well as extra pictures from the Long Haul premier.
Also check the promotional area of the gallery (page 2) - again for some older pictures that somehow got missed out over time and have been re-added.

For practical reasons, we've now also added a site map page (see bottom of pages for the link). This will allow visitors who can't or don't use javascript (and therefore can't access the main menu) a place to get to links for the site in simple text format, hopefully making it accessible for us all - even when you're on the move and using a mobile phone.

We managed to meet Simone at the Glasgow booksigning. Here are some pictures taken from that event

>> Click here for the gallery

Thank you Simone for the time you kindly gave us, and for letting us know about these events in advance.

We will be setting up an auction, with all proceeds to go to the Caledonian Kitchen Charity, of a signed book we picked up some time over the coming weeks. Please check back soon for more news of this.

Because Simone's recipe in the book involves chocolate, she also kindly clarified that she has a very, very mild allergy and therefore can still eat it. Our profile page has been updated to reflect this.

If anyone was able to go to the Play in London, and has some pictures and/or reviews they would like to share, please email us at: webmistress@simonelahbib.net
Any pictures or information used will be given credit to those who send it - either via username, initials or if specified full names, but note we will not disclose names unless asked!

July 2009.

Further to the news that Simone sent, here are the details for the book signing.

Kaye Adams, Simone Lahbib and Eileen McCallum to sign copies of Caledonian Kitchen in aid of Action Duchenne on Sunday 2nd August at 2pm, Beanscene, 40–42 Woodlands Rd, Glasgow, G3 6UR

We've just had an email from Simone, and she has given us the following news:

".... to let you know about a couple of things that may be of interest to fans. Firstly a book signing at The Beanscene, a book store in Glasgow, on 2nd of August. More details on the venue to follow.
The Book is called The Caledonian Kitchen, a wonderful book of recipes from various famous Scottish faces to raise money for people living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The other news is I'm doing a rehearsed reading of a new play called The Golden Hour at the Almeida Theatre, Almeida St, Islington, London N1 1TA from 29-31 July at 7.30.

Click on the picture for a larger version.

I've attached the flier and more info can be found at www.almeidasummerfestival.co.uk. Lastly please extend a big thank you to all the fans for all their support over the years. Hopefully some will be able to make one or other event and I can catch up with them then. "

Love and best wishes

Wire in the Blood series 7 will not be happening after all, after ITV have pulled the plug.
This is taken from Val McDermid's own website.
"I'm sorry to confirm that the press announcements are right on the money. ITV have failed to recommission the series. After Coastal single-handedly restored ITV drama's status (The Times headline in September: 'Quality Drama Returns to ITV) this is how they are treated. Sandra Jobling, the executive producer, has sweated blood to bring this series in at high quality on a budget that was, in real terms, shrinking year on year and this decision is a slap in the face to her and to anyone committed to making classy TV drama. We had the audience numbers, the audience share and a committed audience who made an appointment with the show, not just watching it because there was nothing else on. We appear on 120 channels world-wide. We've just been shortlisted for an Edgar award by the Mystery Writers of America, up against such competition as The Wire, The Shield and Damages. But apparently we're not good enough for ITV.
It's not just about Coastal, though. The story is wider and deeper that that. Take a look at this story to get the fuller picture.

24th August 2008

An article has appeared in The Sunday Times (click here). Now it once again raises an important issue we as fans have to acknowledge. As the rules on our message board clearly state - Simone Lahbib and her family should be given privacy as they see fit. Now, while its always tempting to try and get close to someone you admire, to do it with actions such as this are not helpful - to Simone and her family, nor the rest of the genuine fans out there! This just makes someone step back from the fans rather than embrace them.
So, from Simone Lahbib Net, we would ask everyone to just be aware of what is acceptable and what isn't. To have a site dedicated to Simone is fine - as long as you make sure you place the information somewhere making people aware of this as we do.
And for fans who might be unsure - please never accept a MySpace or Facebook link as genuine unless there is a recognized or official online website that can confirm this, or the celebrity comes out in interview and confirms the site. This way you also won't be duped.
